In their daily play they explore mathematical ideas: sorting their toys, comparing shapes, looking at patterns….
They discussed what they knew about “numbers” and where they could be found and what they were used for: on buses, on keyboards, on the telephones, on cellular phones, in coins and bills. Then, with all this information, they made a poster.
The children also brought from home objects with numbers on them: puzzles, books, calculators, radios, etc.
The “Bears” classroom
