The excitement was in the air! Along with a few tired eyes as we prepared for our short journey to “El Patronato de la Infancia” for two days together. When we arrived, the sun was already out to greet us and the action started straight away. The pupils had to find their sleeping quarters and mentally prepare themselves for a night’s sleep ahead with around 6 to 8 people all in the same room!
The morning and afternoon brought to us a mixture of activities in order to build team spirit and cooperation which went extremely well. I saw everybody laughing and helping each other with challenges set in front of them. Well done to our year 7.
Before dinner, I remember that we sat all in a circle and I was impressed from the comments and reflections from our students about the day.
We finished our first day all together with songs in our sleepy heads.
Our final day brought us two main activities all run by our tutors and PSE team to develop aspects about how to manage and even avoid potential conflicts between people and for the pupils to meet more people from other tutor groups. All of the staff told me how much they enjoyed the work from the pupils.
The end was coming soon to our adventure and we just had time for a final meal and then we wound down together to watch Adolfo’s photo presentation of our time over the two days. With joy in our hearts and a possible reluctance to leave we headed back to Olivos and to the excited arms of our families, eager to hear all that had passed.
James Thomas (Head of Year 7) would like to thank Adolfo, Marisa, Valeria, Teresa, Mariel, Ma. Elina, Caroline, Kenneth, Gustavo, Patricio, Daniel, Ingrid and Paula and especially the pupils of year 7 for all of their contributions.
A few written comments from pupils:
