Three girls from Middle School who will be launching a project about recycling came to visit us. They wanted to find out what we do, how we help and where we send the collected items.
They started asking questions which the children could easily reply.
What do you recycle?
Their immediate answer was: bottle tops, paper, newspaper, bottles, plastic, cereal boxes, carton, yoghurt pots, milk cartons and sachets.
Do you know where you send it?
Yes!!! They all replied. We send it to the Garrahan Hospital and to the "Cooperativa El Ceibo".
Why do you send it to the Garrahan Hospital?
To help the hospital and the children who need to stay there. The people who work at the hospital take it to a place where they recycle paper and bottle tops. We can only send the small bottle tops, the big ones do not go through the machine.
Do you have special bins?
Yes, we do. One for the bottle tops, another one for the paper and five for the Cooperativa.
Do you help somebody else?
Yes, we also help the Cooperativa. We wash all the things we send and smash big bottles so as to fit many in the bins. They come every Wednesday to collect them.
Our children were feeling very proud of sharing something they do every day with the big girls. They were able to tell them what they have learnt so as to motivate them in their project. Our Middle School students were very thankful and left the kindergarten with a smile on their face and ready to look after our environment helping others!
