The first thing they noticed was that our class had the same shape as the yellow hexagon. They then looked for other things that had that same shape, a honeycomb, the multipurpose room and our tables.
But some children realized that our tables are made out of two tables put together so they looked among the pattern blocks and found that there is another shape that resembles our tables, the trapezium. So, two trapeziums make a hexagon.
Excited by this they found that with three rhombuses they could complete the hexagon, but one was not enough for the trapezium; they needed to fill it out with a triangle.
They found many different ways to complete the hexagon making different combinations with the pattern blocks.
