Dare to dream that your dreams will come true!
In this lively and charming adaptation of Frank Baum’s novel, Dorothy is whisked away from her uncle and aunt in Kansas to the enchanting wonderland of Oz. The “Wizard of Oz" is a classic, and this stage version based on the 1975 Broadway show, adapted by Oscar Llobenes is every bit as magical.
Fortunately Dorothy has the help of several companions that she meets in this new world – a scarecrow who wants a brain, a tin woodman who wants a heart, and a cowardly lion who wants courage. Together with Dorothy - who wants to get back to Kansas - they travel to the Emerald city where Oz is wizard, to ask him to make their wishes come true. Their journey is filled with adventures; and when they finally meet Oz they discover a terrible truth, that leads them into even more adventures.
The colourful set created by Mrs. Elena Earnshaw and the lovely costumes provide the perfect setting for the story. The play includes a song performed by the Junior Choir “Five Hundred Miles” and several students demonsrate their musical talent by singing solo parts. The children are accompanied by a band of talented staff members: Andrés Varela on piano, Andrés Vergara on drums and Tomás Merello on bass guitar.
This play reminds us that there are very few stories like “The Wizard of Oz” and there really is no place like home!
The magic of Oz is still alive and well in this remarkable production!
