The first challenge was to see what happened when we mixed these substances. Some Tigers thought that nothing was going to happen; others thought that an explosion would occur. So, to corroborate their hypothesis, we gave them the material to see for themselves. They soon realized that the mixture of baking soda and vinegar produced lots of bubbles!
After exploring the new material, the Tigers decided to take one more step. They were asked what they thought would happen if the mixture was done inside a bottle, and the orifice was covered by a balloon. Some thought nothing would happen, others thought the balloon would explode. They drew what they thought would happen, and afterwards they carried out the experiment to see the results. The balloon grew bigger but didn't explode! The children realized that the bubbles have air captured inside, and that's why the balloon got bigger!
We had so much fun!
