Cooking takes an important role in the Extended Time-Table Programme
Every Monday the children who attend the extended timetable programme cook or bake something.

Last Monday they prepared delicious cornflour "alfajores". They like baking and mainly eating what they have prepared. So much so that nearly every time, we have to make double proportions.

Before preparing the dough the children washed their hands thoroughly. Once they were ready and their hands clean they were organized in such a way that they could all see the ingredients needed.

This time they were using cornflour, something they had never used before. They felt it and realized it was different from the flour. We started with the butter, then the sugar, flour, cornflour and eggs. Then they all had the chance to mix the batter until all the ingredients were together.

Each child had a piece of dough and they all made "alfajores". Once they were ready we added “dulce de leche” and ate them all, very happily! They enjoyed them so much! And as usual they were asking for more.

Through cooking children learn very important concepts from maths and science and new vocabulary.
